Why And How To Clean Your Washing Machine

Cleaning the washing machine is something we don't think about. However, did you know that dirty washing machines can be a breeding ground for harmful germs and bacteria? The dirt that gets out of your clothes, towels and bedclothes will go somewhere, which means that dirt can build up in your washing machine over time. Without regular cleaning, the machine can also contain dirt, hard water deposits and mould around the lid. This can leave a residue in the laundry or make it smell bad. To make sure your clothes and linens are as clean as possible, follow these steps to clean your washing machine once a month. These instructions work for cleaning both front-loading and top-loading washing machines, but there are some special considerations for both types. But first, have a look at why we need to clean the washing machine.

Why Should We Clean The Washing Machine?

But why do we need to clean the washing machine in the first place? Does the soap, detergents and water not clean the washing machine already while washing the clothes?

Researchers and reports show that while the washing machine cleans your dirtiest laundry, the machine itself gets worse with each wash. When a washing machine is left uncleaned for long periods of time, layers of soapy water, fabric softeners, chemicals and minerals build up in the drain tubes, drawer pulls, filters and the outside of the tank. If this layer is left in place for some time, it can develop resistant bacteria that are harmful. To add to the confusion, washing with cold water and very little hot water allows bacteria and viruses to grow in every nook and cranny of the washing machine. Although high-temperature water can kill this virus and bacteria, you can not wash clothes in hot water. And it is very confusing!

How To Clean Your Washing Machine?

Don't worry, here are some tricks you can use to keep your washing machine clean and running.

1. White Vinegar Or Apple Cider Vinegar Wash

Add 2 glasses of white wine or apple cider vinegar to the drawer where you put soap and detergent. If your machine doesn't have a detergent drawer, drop it directly into the tub. Keep your machine in the best possible water condition and most mould and mildew can be removed with the first wash itself. Pour water into the machine and run it for about 5-7 minutes. Once done, drain the dirty water.

2. Get That Extra Wash

To be doubly safe, fill in the hot water in your machine and set a timer for about five minutes. You don't need to add anything to the water at this point and let the machine clean with just water. Remove the dirty water after use.

3. Dispenser Cleaning

After cleaning the basin, mix the equal parts of vinegar and water, fill it in a spray bottle and spray in the gaskets, dispensers and exterior of the machine for quick cleaning. Wipe everything down with a clean cloth.

4. The final touch

Your washing machine is now in good condition. However, let's add a little to our health and wipe off the outside of the machine so that the surface or inner side is no longer rough to the touch due to the hard water spots, soap build-ups etc.

You have followed everything. Your washing machine is safe for you and your family. Whether you don't want the hassle of cleaning a washing machine or have time to wash your clothes, Laundramoon is a place you can trust for your laundry and dry cleaning needs anywhere in London, UK.
